Meet the team
TYC was founded by Artistic Director Marie Amey in 2013 as a Not for Profit passion project, where the income through fees goes back into the Acting School to provide a range of opportunities and experiences for young people. In 2019 Marie won the Pamodzi Inspirational Woman of Portsmouth Award in the Educational category in recognition of all she has done within the community. Marie teaches both Havant and Portsmouth Budding and Company classes as well as 1 to 1 Lamda tuition, all whilst orchestrating various other side projects!
She also works as an Actress and Director for other theatre and film companies and facilitates drama within Hampshire schools.
Nathalie has supported TYC in a variety of capacities over the years and is now our Out Reach Co-Ordinator, being involved in a range of TYC events. She further frequently aids classes and takes on backstage roles, whilst also organising our involvement with the HAF scheme.
Nathalie also works as a Singer, Actor and Theatre Creative, and when she's not busy rocking with her band The Spoils she can be spotted as a variety of funky characters around Portsmouth!
Hazel is our Seedling teacher across both our Havant and Portsmouth classes who also runs our weekly toddlers Tiny Tales sessions. A specialist in interactive theatre for children, Hazel provides imaginative, energetic, and magical workshops that aim to entertain, build confidence, and encourage creativity.
Hazel is also an Actor, Entertainer, and Artistic Director of the Black Hat Theatre Company!
Ross is a multi-talented Actor and Videographer who leads our weekly Film School, teaching 8 years and plus everything there is to
know about creating for the screen, using equipment, and taking on roles in front of and behind the camera to successfully create work for the screen

After six months voluntary work, Portia became an Assistant Teacher, working closely with the Portsmouth group to this day as well as being our Social Media manager and Admin Assistant.
Oliver joined The Young Creatives Portsmouth in 2014 and was always incredibly helpful and wanting to get involved. Upon the opening of our Havant classes in 2018, Oliver soon started volunteering his time to help with the running of classes which lead to him becomming a much loved Assistant Teacher
Sonja assists the Budding Actors class in Portsmouth, she also Stage Manages our larger scale theatre shows. Her organisational skills, mixed with her humour, keep us all in check and smiling!
Ana has been our videographer and photographer for almost as long as we have been running. She has a keen eye for photography and we are very lucky to have all our show documented by her in such a beautiful way.
