Apprentice to Captain Compass
Exciting paid role for a young performer!
We are looking for a young performer to join a brand-new immersive storytelling project at a major Portsmouth heritage venue.
Working alongside Captain Compass - the Dockyard’s adventurous storytelling guide - you will perform as their Apprentice, helping bring stories to life through interactive performance, playful audience engagement, and light puppetry with Ratty, the Dockyard’s much-loved resident character.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a current member, alumni, or early-career creative looking to gain professional experience in immersive theatre, family performance, and public-facing storytelling.
We are particularly interested in hearing from young performers who are confident, reliable, engaging with young audiences, and excited by character-led performance.

Merch Maker
We are currently piloting a new paid creative production role and are looking for one young creative to join us as a Merch Maker.
This role focuses on the practical making of TYC uniforms and merchandise using vinyl printing. It is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on creative work, attention to detail, and taking pride in high-quality finished products.
The role includes:

Producing t-shirts, tote bags, and merchandise using vinyl cutting and heat pressing

Preparing designs and materials

Quality checking finished items

Working from our studio one weekday per week while the team are on site
This is a paid role, with payment made per item or per batch produced, rather than hourly.
This is a pilot opportunity, initially offered on a trial basis, with the intention to review and potentially grow the role over time.
